Do they look alike?

One of my friends had a cute post on her blog of her two little girls at the same age and I decided to do the same thing. Here they both are around 9-10 weeks old. What do you think, do they look alike? I can tell you they have totally opposite personalities!!

Elder Ostler's Last Missionary Email!

Dear Family, Oct 19,09
I guess 2 years is almost up or so they tell me. Thanks for the letters you sent me paper letters and emails my mission. I also want to thank you for the rootbeer Bro. Clutter Loved it. I will miss all the people here that I have been able to love and know. I have been able to see a lot of neat things and it has been worth it every second. Sometimes it was tough but it was worth it. You have all been a great support to me here and in different areas. I know that the things I have learned can't be learned anywhere else . I haven't ever been so focused in my life than on my mission and I want to continue to stay on the path. It is weird you get those mixed feelings that you never thought I would get. It seems like yesturday I was at the MTC.
Things are going great. Sam is still planning to get Baptized on the 7th. Also It was neat we were able to give some blessings this week. One to a family who is LA in Sesser they had a fever it was neat. Then to a guy who the Bishop was friends with who had a heart attack. After the blessing I touched his hand and I told him to get feeling better and he opened his eyes for a few seconds. Then we gave Elder Crapo a blessing for his cold that was getter worse. We also gave a part members family (the husband who is not a member) a blessing after church. We all got sick at some time this week. Me first with the flu last p-day then Elder Hobbs with a cold and Elder Crapo with a cold. It has been crazy but it has worked out. I guess I will see you in a few days. With Love, Elder Ostler

From Val: Thanks to all who have been a support to Ben.
We are picking him up tomorrow and we can hardly wait!

Legacy Halloween

FYI---all invited. Come and enjoy Legacy's Halloween party. Grandpa would love to see your costumes.

Pot-Luck Dinner at Legacy for Dad's Birthday - Which Date is Best For You?

(Update) It sounds like Saturday, November 14 is the best for everyone who has replied, so that's the date for the party. It will be 5:00 in the Activities Room at Legacy House, 79 East Center Street, Bountiful. Please bring a pot-luck dish to share. We will provide drinks, plates and utensils, etc.

I'm talking with Dad and Legacy about reserving their party room for a pot-luck dinner for dad's birthday. Since his birthday is in the middle of the week, the two dates I'm considering are:

Saturday November 7
Saturday November 14

The party would be at 5:00 at Legacy House in the room where we had the other party. Please leave a comment and let me know which of those dates is best for you.

Thanks!!

Semper Fi Matt, and God Speed for your safe return.

Even before he was offiicially part of the Corps, he paid respects to the fallen Marines at the Pearl Harbor Memorial. I walked in a found him there. The picture was not staged. Semper Fi, Matt.
From one Salty Dog Sailor to his handsome grandson in his Dress Blues... May God bless and keep you as you serve our Country. Take care, be safe, and remember me always. Love, Grandpa.

They report to basic training in baggy jeans and t-shirts, 13 short, but tough weeks later, sharp as a tack and all grown up. Even Mom couldn't get him to wear a tie. Go figure.

We hadn't seen him for 13 weeks, and this was our first look after they finished a 4 mile run. Right in front of us and even Travis couldn't get him to laugh, or even look at us, even with Mother cheering.
Now, Thurs morning at 8:30 AM he is off to Okinawa for two years. We love you, you have made us proud, and helped us to appreciate at a whole new level all our men and women of the Armed Services around the world that are fighting to keep America the land of the free. I hope we never take our freedom and the quality of life we enjoy for granted again.
Anyone that would like to say goodbye to Matt is welcome to come by tomorrow eve, or call him at 801-510-4629 one last time. He appreciates all your love and prayers in his behalf, as do we. Once he gets settled in Okinawa we will post an email address for those that want to visit with him. Of course, you all will be connected w/ that Facelift or book thing right? I gotta get out of the techie darkages I guess. Or not, my phone still works well.
Love to all, especially you Son, You will always be my #1!!
Love, Dad

Western Caribbean Cruise 2009

Last week I went on a cruise to the Western Caribbean with a few of my friends. We stayed in Miami the first night and then boarded the ship for a week of fun in the sun. I took about 200 photos along with Angie's 300 photos. So here are just a few.

Our first stop....Dash in Miami.
We went to the beach initially and then headed over to dash to say hi to Kourtney and Khloe. Too bad they were out of town that day.

On the top of the boat as we pull out of Miami.

The night we became Celebrities on the boat.....people loved us and recognized us everywhere we went. When we met people they always started off the conversation with, "Hey, your the girls from the dance club the first night!" It was awesome!

Our first dress up night at dinner. We loved our head waiter, MC, and our other waiter, Erwan (or two, or three, or four). They were awesome!
We decided to sing a little karaoke on the ship....You got to love Journey!

Our first port....Grand Cayman
We took a boat ride out to Sting Ray City and swam with some huge sting rays. (Hopefully there will be pictures of that to come) Then we headed over to the coral reef to snorkel.
Jake, the Captain, cut up some conch for us to eat. It was really delicious, except for the spaghetti string thingy. It made me gag.

The three tour guides were fans of the Utah Girls so they let us drive their boat. It was a blast!

Getting off the boat in Roatan, Hondouras.

We spent the day on the beach in Roatan and then did a little shopping.

Our next stop was Belize. We went spellunking, rapelling, and ziplining. It was so much fun except we were eaten alive by mosquitos.

The bottom of the rapelling rope.

The group hiking through the rainforest.

Ziplining to the finish!

They fed us BBQ after our adventure. It was great lizard!

Our last stop was Cozumel. Another beach day. The beaches weren't as beautiful as Roatan, but it was tons of fun with all the water toys. We also did a lot of shopping here.

Picture of the boat from Cozumel.

A group picture at dinner the night after Roatan.

Here's our group of friends from Key West and Ft. Lauderdale. We had a great time with them and will definitely be planning another trip with this group.

Mike and Mike in the morning with me and Rachel.

J, Jorge, and JJ....our friends from Puerto Rico. This was the last day waiting our turn to get off the boat. I think we were the last ones off the boat.

It was a FABULOUS vacation. Thanks for the good times Jay, Ang, and Rachel!!! Until next time....

Elder Ostler is almost home!

Dear Family, Oct 13,09
Things continue to go well for me here in Mt. Vernon. Carol got baptized Sat. and it was neat the water was burning hot so we cooled it down with a bag of ice and was still pretty warm. Then Sun I had the priveledge of confirming her a member of the church. Also another girl in a family got baptized that day and it was packed full of people for the baptism we barely had a place to sit. Then Sam is still doing really great and is still planning to get baptized on the 7th of Nov. Then we taught Josh again and had a great lesson and answered ?'s he had and he is almost done reading the Book Of Mormon. Then we saw Howard again who is doing really well and helping better understand about the church. We also had a neat sacrament meeting and there was a new Bishop called Bishop Wilcox and Bro. Clutter 1st counsler and Bro. Mezo 2nd counsler. Bishop harper is moving in a few days to Tulsa Ok. It is going to be sweet we are going to go to the temple this week with Bro. Clutter. It continues to be fun with 3 comps we are quite a deal around town we you see 3 on bikes at once. I also made homaemade pizza for district meeting which turned out great. We still have been making good meals and cheap with three people.
with love, Elder Ostler

Mom's note:
Ben is coming home on October 22nd! A week from tomorrow! We are excited to see him. He will speak in church on November 15th at 9:30 for those who want to come. This is a different date than I told some of you as we found out we have Stake Conf. the previous week. All are invited and more details will come later. Thanks to all for your support of Ben on his mission.
