Pumpkins anyone?

I just got this cute pic of all of our grandkids together looking for pumpkins at a farm in Ohio.
Cute huh? We sure think so.... Looks like fun I think.

One Proud Papa!

No, this isn't Garrett, or Kent, or any of the Howell kids admiring their new little baby girl. This is JON admiring the gorgeous little Andrea. What could be better on your birthday than a reminder of what had to be one of the happiest days of your life? Well here's to another happy, happy day...today! Have a blissful birthday Jon. We love you.

Happy Birthday Stachie!

First of all, I'd like to know where the nickname "Stachie" came from, and second I must say that is a really really cool picture. Anyway, I doubt you'll be on an air mattress going down a river in cutoffs today (they're all frozen solid right?) but I do hope you take a little time out from the busy life of a dental lab owner and just CHILL, (followed of course by a slice of cake).
Happy birthday Janet. We love you.

SOMEONE IS OLDER!!

Ok--so I am not creative like Rand--but I know a cute girl when I see her.
Today is her birthday, she has pigtail braids, and a purple striped bathing
suit----If you see her, give her a hug and wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANDREA
[ps. it is "E" to many of you, but Andrea to me]

Hope your day is wonderful!

Happy Birthday MASON & EVERETT.

Today there are TWO BIRTHDAYS worth celebrating. Mason has just turned 20 (I think) and Everett is just turning hmmmm...8? 9? It's so hard to keep up with all these Nephews and Great Nephews. So Mason, how will you spend your day in Wyoming now that you're 20? Probably you'll be spending it with your girlfriend, driving around in your car, and then maybe BBQ some steaks. And Everett, are you going to dress up like Batman again like you did a few years ago? Or will you spend it playing baseball and teasing your sisters? Then eating a big piece of cake. Like I said, it's hard keeping up with such a big family. Sorry about the little tiny picture of Mason. I couldn't find a bigger one. Have WONDERFUL birthdays. We love you both.

It was a good year for a Pixie haircut.

Fast forward about 38 years and I say Janet doesn't look like she's aged at all. However, today she is officially another year older. With the temperatures in Wyoming what they are I doubt she'll spend her birthday in plaid shorts with a fishing pole in her hand (maybe ice fishing) but, we do hope your birthday is equally carefree and fun. Have a WONDERFUL birthday Janet. We love you.

Look Who Was On My TV Tonight!

Tonight I happened upon The Making Of Sweetwater Rescue: The Willie and Martin Handcart Companies. I remembered this is the documentary that all the Howell's got scruffy-faced for. And just look who I found during the program. The program was very interesting and I was freezing just watching it. I was wrapped in a blanket and drinking some warm tea just watching it. The filming looked like an amazing experience, but definitely not a warm one. (Sorry for the picture quality.)

More movie shots

This is all of us on the last day of filming. It was fun but very cold. The movie will be shown on PBS in October and I will try to let you all know what day so you can see it. i can't guarantee that you will see any close shots of any of us, but they did film quite a few with c couple of us. I hope some of them make it to the final cut. I think they will show it between conference sessions in October too. It is the 150 anniversary of the Willie and Martin Handcart rescue in October. Poor Brandon shaved just a week earlier thinking he would not be able to make the filming...I am still glad that he was. (even though he looks about 12 years old) The director personally told Garrett and Jane that they will definitely be a part of the movie because she is pregnant and they taped a lot of special scenes with only them. That is cool.

What an experience!! Glad we did it.

Keep you posted on the dates it will air.

well, we have officially started filming the pioneer movie

I thought you would all get a kick out of seeing me
looking so grim! That is what the movie crew
called me at least. They loved my look. and no, it is not makeup making my nose red! just a blessing I have when my nose gets cold. It was VERY COLD at Rock Creek (on the top of south pass in the Wind River Mountains) today and we were pulling the handcarts up a steep hill with the wind howling and snow about 2 feet deep. I fell down many times and we all were about frozen. This was taken near the end of the day just before we filmed the shots around the campfires. They took many closeup shots of Jon and I. I hope they are not all edited out. Time will tell. We will be filming all day tomorrow and Friday at Martin's cove. Hopefully, Brandon and Garrett will be able to come to those filming sessions too. I hope I eventually get the feeling back in my toes! hehe We are very tired tonight, but excited for the opportunity to do this film. It should be aired on pbs in October and I will let you all know so you can watch.

Love you all,

your tired and "grim looking sis and aunt and mom and ???

For those of you that don't know... Jon, Garrett, Brandon and I are going to be extras in a movie in January about the handcart pioneers. They asked the men to grow out their beards and hair until they film! As you can see the Howelss are getting pretty hairy!
Thought yuo would all like to see them.

Merry Christmas and I love you all
