Happy Thanksgiving

The Drapers have had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break this year, filled with lots of eating and lots of family time.

As I've recently jumped back into family history mode, I watched this clip of one of my favorite Thanksgivings. I remember dozens - if not hundreds - of similar scenes from my childhood and hope seeing this brings a smile to your face just like it did to mine.

Be sure to catch the final 30 seconds of this clip - a Denny marching band for the ages. My personal favorite is seeing Becca lead the band with heartfelt gusto!

Note that even though this video has been uploaded to YouTube, it is not publicly listed. This means that only those with the link can view it (just like our blog).

The Fountains

We had a blast today! First, we met Aunt Kalyn and the Ostler kids at Gateway for an adventure in the fountains. The kids loved the water and every 1/2 hour the fountains were choreographed to music for an extra boost of excitement. Then, we headed back to Aunt Kalyn's house for a BBQ with her friend Susan, Susan's daughters Sophie and Samone and Jake Ostler. The food was amazing and nothing beats a Ball Park (all beef frank) grilled to perfection. The company was great, the food was great, and all in all we had a great time. Thanks Kalyn for everything!

More Pictures....

Yesterday was very nice. Thanks to everyone for making it such a special day. It was hard to get a good picture of Hudson because I had such a good little helper that wanted to use the "grammer" (camera).

Can anyone guess who that might be?

FOR ANGEE: How to organize your photos.

Since Ang was kind enough to ask how I organize my photos I thought I'd share the secret with all of you. Here it is: Be lucky enough to be born into a family with an older sister named Laurel (yes, that is her in the picture). Let Laurel gather up ALL the family slides and photos and magically (after hundreds of hours of work no doubt) put them all on incredibly organized CD's, each labled with the exact contents of the CD. Lar even organized them by sibling, year, family etc. It's an unbelievable CD collection and one that I reach to almost every time a birthday rolls around. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the work that went into that project. I LOVE it. In fact, yesterday I spent a few hours putting an old old picture of each of my siblings into my iPhone so that when I call (or get a call) from any of them their photo pops on. Very cool. Thanks for making me look very organized Lar. I just absolutely LOVE that collection. PS: other than that Ang, for me with the pictures I take, I organize them into albums on iPhoto. You have a Mac don't you? It makes it SIMPLE.

Another thing you don't know about Heather

Heath can cook and sew. Isn't she amazing? Her mom must be amazing as well.

Guess what, you made my day! (And you know why.) Thanks for being such a kind niece who takes time out to give love everywhere. Hugs to you, Ryan, and Jack Jack.

Thanks Mark, Lisa and Family. (Including Harry.)

Thanks to the Mark Denny family for letting about 50 very hungry football fans invade for Super Bowl 2007. And thanks to everyone who brought all the WONDERFUL ethnic (?) food. Lauren and Morgan GREATLY appreciated all the Starbursts. I appreciated my premo leather seat that Ryan did try to steal after I think I actually forgot to say "Place back." Ryan is so kind, however, that he realized at my advanced age I probably did need a soft spot to sit in and watch the COMMERCIALS. Thanks to Jeff for helping out those of us who aren't good at the score wagering thing, and for confirming that Mountain Dew is ethnic as it's bottled in Mexico. Jack Jack appreciated the free use of the putting club and the Swiffer. Both FAR more entertaining than a football game. Kelly made it VERY easy to say "Phase One? What's that?" with his amazing chocolate dipped strawberries. Bandit proved that size has nothing to do with stamina. I'm still sleepy from watching that little dog go. Oh wait, I think I meant I'm still sleepy after watching Cooper go FULL SPEED AHEAD. I actually feared for Harry's life when Cooper wanted to hold him, but all survived it. Barely. I think Kalyn is actually a closeted football fan. Congrats to Amy whom I learned just graduated. Heal quickly Sara with the hurt arm. Congratulations to Ryan and Becca with their news. Congratulations Ashley on your score pick victory. We all enjoyed breaking in Mark and Lisa's beautiful new house. I think we kept the damage to a minimum. And, I think I can speak for all of us when I say that it was a WONDERFUL gathering. Even Justin was there, although he just stood in the corner all night with a stiff look on his face. Snap out of it Justin. Thanks again everyone. I love you all. PS: maybe next year Bears!

Four Days With No Water, and Why Kalyn Won't Be Posting Recipes for a Few Days

(I just posted this on Kalyn's Kitchen, but I thought the family might like to see it here too.)

What's a food blogger to do when it's day four without water, every dish in the house is dirty, no way to wash them, and there's a big hole in the lawn where the water meter used to be? Take photos of course. Here's part of what's been going on around here the last four days.

Much, much, much thanks to my wonderful brothers Mark and Dave and my brother-in-law Kelly who spent the last two days at my house trying to figure out what was wrong (after two days of trying to thaw the pipe with an electrical charge didn't work.) Also thanks to Rand who sent financial and moral support from California. I cannot adequately express how blessed I feel to have such a wonderful, supportive family who would pretty much do anything they could to help me..

Since my entire life has been completely disrupted by this little act of nature, I may not be posting any recipes for a few days. I'll be back as soon as I can.

Yum. Yum. Yum.

We had some really good Thai food last night, compliments of Pam and Kara. Thanks for such a thoughtful gift. We enjoyed: Lime tofu salad, basil noodles, Pad Prik King (spicy green beans) and peanut chicken. It was all wonderful. I only wish our house was still as clean as you left it :)
