Most of you may know, but wanted to update on Cooper. He was diagnosed 12 days ago with type 1 diabetes. It has been a challenge for him and his family, but thanks to prayers in their behalf, Cooper is now doing well. He is adjusting to 5-8 shots per day and accounting for everything that goes in his mouth. I think that alone would be a challenge for most of us!! Insulin is supposed to be given in the fat, so you can imagine how hard that is with Cooper, who has NO fat. His BS numbers continue to get better and with that he also will continue to feel better. This new way of life will continue to get easier as they all become very familiar with all that Cooper needs to do with this not so fun disease.

He was glad to have his Dad help him be brave.

Cooper just gave his Mom a shot in her arm......

You can see by the 3rd day in the hospital...he was returning to normal!!
We appreciate all the prayers for Cooper and his family during the past couple of weeks. Love you ALL

You'll have to tip your head for this one...don't know why it comes in sideways, it isn't on my computer folder!
Way to go Cooper...he took first place in his cub scout
space derby. He said "Grandma, there were also weebelos there and I beat all of them.
You ROCK Coop!!

Pumpkins & Snow

Laynee decided she should fill the pumpkin with snow!

Kendyl loves eating the snow!

Laynee wanted a dinosaur pumpkin and this was the best we could do! :)

Ben is pretty serious about his pumpkin carving!

Yes they are practically naked!

Yes - Laynee is giving the same look I have on my face all the time!

Reagan's Blessing

Reagan was blessed on October 19. Sorry that I don't have better pictures.
I did not get one of the family.

She is not all that happy in some of these....but her father gave her a beautiful blessing. So glad they were able to come to Bountiful for a few days and all of us were able to be to the blessing.
WE LOVE YOU, REAGAN!!

Draper Update

It's been too long since we've given a Draper update.  Here's what we've been up to in the last couple of months:

Starting preschool,

losing teeth,

playing soccer,

playing vball,

taking a hike,

taking a mini vacation to Brian Head,

celebrating birthdays,

(Cam 7, Ry 9)

running cross country,

taking 1st at region and 2nd at state (5A) in cross country,

going to Bryce Canyon,

and just living day by day.

Oh, and taking lots of pictures.  :)  (Sometimes of cute niece Gracie.)

P.S.  We've been thinking of Cooper and are amazed at his (and his parents) toughness.  Let us know if there is anything we can do...

Pam's Recipe for "Fat Noodles"

I took a photo with my phone and Pam wrote out her recipe, so I thought we should share!

Grandma Eula Denny's Homemade Chicken and Noodles (aka "Fat Noodles")
(Makes about 8 generous servings, recipe from Pam)

First make broth:
Boil 1 Whole chicken for 2-3 hours in 8 quarts of water with 8 generous teaspoons of Knorr chicken bouillon added. Remove chicken from broth. Strain if needed.  Let chicken cool and pull the meat off the bones and cut in chunks.

Noodles:
4 eggs
4 egg shells of water (use ½ side of the egg shell)
¾ t. salt
3+ cups flour (must be stiff enough to roll thin)
½ to 1 cup more flour (used while rolling out)

Mix eggs, water, and salt; beat with a fork until well blended.
Add flour, 1 cup at a time to the egg/water mixture. Mix until the dough is able to be kneaded. Knead well. Roll out on a well floured board until very thin.  (At this point you can let the dough rest for 30 minutes or more before you cut the noodles if desired.)

Cut into noodles about 1/3 inch wide using a pizza cutter. Be very generous with the flour during the rolling and cutting steps.  (Grandma Eula Denny always let the noodles dry for a few hours before she cooked them, but Pam says you don't have to do that.)

Drop noodles, a few at a time, into the boiling broth. Stir in between while dropping in the noodles so they don’t stick together. Add chunks of the chicken. Cook at a low simmer for about 40 minutes, stir occasionally.
