REMEMBERING OUR VETRANS--1453 CROSSES

We all worked hard putting up 1453 crosses in the Bountiful
city cemetery.
The crosses are exactly 3 feet apart in all directions.
Jeff worked hard too this year.
Each year there are about 80 new crosses to make
put names on and insert in the right place.
The crosses are all in alphabetical order.
Imagine making 1453 holes in the ground with this tool!!
It is hard work.
Cooper sitting by his Great Grandpa Willey's cross.
This is about the 40th or so year that the
Willeys have participated in this.
I think maybe it is now a tradition.
The concern on Grandma's face is because
we didn't have a table to put goodies on!!

Where's the Birthday Boy?

I just LOVE this picture. Alf, Mickey, and train P.J.s, you've got to love that. The only thing, in my opinion, that would make it better is if BRAYDEN were in it. It is his birthday afterall. Perhaps D&A can post a few current snaps of our birthday boy from Oh! Canada. Keep working hard Brayden. We love you. PS: Let me guess, your P.J.s would be...Spiderman!

missionary adventures

Dear, Family

This week was definitely one to remember. So many things happened. First I had my first District meeting as a DL and that went well and everything went as planned. Also we got the opportunity to go and see the Emma Smith Movie that played in a nearby theater if we could get a ride with a member. So that day we got a hold of a member and went to it. I thought it was done really well and that it would be good for an investigator to see. It was a powerful video.

When we got back we found out that we were locked out of our apt. It was quite the adventure. I tried the card trick but it didn't work and I tried to get in a map the member had. But I ripped that too, what a day. So I remembered that Elder Rollins still had the other key and forgot to leave it so we called him and got it. But on the way over there we met some crazy people one guy told my comp that we were raciest and if he didn't switch trains he was going to kill him. Also we came out by Brandon's apt building and we met a guy from India who was interested and we are going to get a Book of Mormon in Bengali for him to understand then English. Also he said he doesn't go to any church and had walked by ours and said he will be there on Sunday. It is cool also in an area where we had a referral we met someone else named Spencer and are going to meet up with him this week to teach him.

Kristen's Shower Photos

We had a nice time last night at the shower for Kristen. I notice I mostly take pictures of kids (or the ones with adults don't turn out to be flattering!) but here are a few photos.

Kristen with Morgan (no bangs) and Lauren (bangs). I can tell them apart!

The passing on of the pitcher.
Thanks Amy for your help in keeping the tradition going!

It was fun to see how grown-up Sarah and Samantha are getting!

Bridget Klug

Most of you know and remember Bridget Klug, Aly's younger (and only) sister. For the past 10 or so years she has been competing as a triathlete and she is world ranked. She was always an amazing athlete. Unfortunately she was in a terrible cycling accident, while training, and is currently in the U of U intensive care hospital. During a training ride, and while not wearing a helmet, her tire hit a groove in the road and she was thrown from her bike onto her head, and the right side of her face. She has brain injuries, but they are not sure yet to what extent. They are continuing with tests. They do seem quite hopeful as her brain is not swelling, retaining fluid, bleeding, or changing; that is good news. Aly is traveling to Utah right now to be with her. I wanted you all to know so that you could keep Bridget, Aly, and Naomi in your thoughts and prayers. And I'll keep you posted. If any of you would like to send good wishes to Aly (which I'm sure she'd appreciate) you can send them to her at:

Aunt Rosie's 80th Birthday Party

Aunt Rosie's family had a very nice eightieth birthday party for her on Saturday. When I saw these photos I wished I had used a different lens, and taking photos of people is definitely not my specialty, but I still thought people who couldn't attend would like to see the pictures.

Timbo!

See that kid down there in the corner of the photo? It's his birthday. Yup. He's older. Wiser. Taller. Today. (Actually he's probably a LOT taller, as that's a pretty cute but pretty old picture.) We'd LOVE to see a recent shot Tim. I bet we'd hardly recognize you. Have a wonderful birthday. We love you.

Bridger is a smidger older.

Two Bridgers. One slightly older than the other. On the top is Jim Bridger who is credited with discovering the Great Salt Lake. That's quite an accomplishment. And on the bottom is Bridger Bateman who is credited with discovering that if you stare directly into the camera it makes your cheeks look incredibly squeezable. We're thankful for both Bridgers, but especially the bottom one today, as it's his birthday. We hope you discover a LOT of fun on your birthday Bridger. We love you.

Dear, Family

This week has been really good. I have enjoyed getting new comps as I have been on the mission. It has been fun helping someone with his English, it is teaching me a lot of patience and endurance. Also it will be fun to go on team ups with the other Elders in my District. We are going to teach Terry tonight so that will be good. I really enjoy teaching him and he seems to really enjoy learning. It has been great being in this area, hope I will stay here awhile. I have been enjoying the weather today and all of the nice days. I sometimes think that my comp Elder Auguilera knows English, but then he doesn't know it as good as I think he does, but he is learning quick. Also he has only been a member for a year and a half and he is the only member in his family. That is great he is out here on his mission and serving the Lord. Also the other missionary that got transferred to my district is Elder Cregar from Rexburg Idaho.

Happy Mother's Day!

My mom rocks. She knows EVERYTHING! Unfortunately it wasn't until I reached adulthood that I finally realized that. Thanks mom for at least trying to teach me everything you know - I'm definitely still a work in progress. I love you!

Happy Mother's Day times THREE!

I am in complete awe at this picture. It may be the only picture of Mom/Grandma with Vera and Norma in the same picture. If anybody has any others I'd sure love to see them. I thought this was a great occasion to wish all three a wonderful Mother's Day. We love you Mom. We love you Vera. And we love you Norma. I just have to laugh at the look on Norma's face. Do you think that foot smells? And does anybody recognize the two boys in the photo? I know Valerie and Kimberly, but I'm not sure who the boys are. I definitely recognize the old garage in the background!

Happy Mother's Day!

I Love my Mother for lots and lots of reasons, but probably one of the biggest reasons is that she always made me feel loved and helped me know that I matter. I think that is the very most basic things every child (or every adult for that matter) needs to know: That they MATTER. That they are worthy of love simply by birthright. My Mother gave me that gift everyday. I love you Mom!

Happy Mother's Day....

I love my mom because she is always there to help me out when I need it. If I am ever sick she will bring me whatever I need. If my car ever breaks down (which lately it does a lot) she will lend me hers. If it's my birthday...she makes my favorite dinner. My mom is very caring, unshelfish, and she makes me laugh all the time. Mom, I Love You!

Happy Mother's Day!

I think everyone needs to upload a picture and tell us why they love there mom so much!

I love my mom because she came and helped me after I had a baby - I think she probably did about 50 load of laundry!!

I love Grandma Denny because she always braided my hair really cool at the family campouts and she was always so much fun when we had sleep overs at her house!

Sweet Tunes

Here are a few tunes from the CD that Josh and his band recently released. Pretty good stuff, if I do say so myself.

Two of my favorites, with a sound similar to a combination of Jack Johnson and John Mayer:

What the Willey's Were Up to Last Weekend

Last weekend we went over to Dale and Elizabeth's house for birthday dinner. Sarah and Samantha asked me if I new how to double dutch. I told them "of course" and so that's what we did. I loved jump rope as a kid and still do to this day. Shane even showed us that he had some mad skills. My mom even tried to double dutch. We will be practicing some more this coming weekend. Watch out U.S. Jump Roping Team....here come the Willey's!

Elizabeth and James

Okay, well, everyone was wanting a picture of us, so here is one. We're working out all the details of the weddings.

News from Elder Ostler

Dear, Family

I had a great Birthday and it was a lot of fun. It is one that I will never forget and I will always remember. I want to thank you guys for the priceless gifts you gave me they are better than any gifts I have reacieved in all of my Birthdays. Also I never got the ctr rings? But yesterday I gave out two Book of Mormons on the Metro the people were very excited to receive them as I taught them about it and gave them a copy. Also I went to a member in our ward the Finlinson family and had tacos and had an angel food cake. We also got some more news, Transfer calls. My companion Elder Rollins is getting transfered to East St. Louis as a Spanish Elder. He told me he took two years of Spanish in high school. Also for me I will stay and Elder Augulera-I am no sure on the spelling, is going to be my new companion. Also they called me to be the District leader. Also I will be helping him learn more English.
Wow that is very overwhelming but I know it won't be easy but I know that whoever the Lord calls he qualifies. When the Ap's called the first time they forgot to mention about being district leader and teaching English. Surprise! I first I thought they had the wrong number but to my surprise it wasn't. But later I was reading my Patriarchal Blessing and it says that in the mission field there will be people I will preside over. So that make me feel very good that I am going to be fulfilling part of my Blessing.

Hello family,
How are things back at home? well this last week we had another crazy week of weather. On thursday it snowed 10 inches. We built and snow missionary and an igloo. We were going to sleep in the igloo but that night it warmed up and when we came in for the night the roof had already collapased, but we took pictures with us studing in the igloo. The next day the snow was all melted because it was 12 plus.My new sompanion is Elder Jensen, he is from fresno california. There is 8 in his family and he is the baby. He came out with me, so we already had stories in the mtc. we are having a lot of fun and working hard. We have about eight investigators we are working with right now. Teresa has a baptismal date for April 26, she is 9 years old. Her mom is a member, but less active, so we are also working with her. They are from Sudan and speak english and another laugeage that I dont know. We met with them last Thursday and Saturday. We taught teresa the third lesson and we are going to teach her lesson 4, which is on the commandments, on Thursday. We are also working with Robb Rapp. He is married to a member, but she is less active, so we are working with her. Robb is in his 30s and is really busy with school. We met with them yesturday and shared the restoration video and they liked it. Those are just some of the main investigators we are working with. We are also working with five less active families in the ward they are really cool and funny. We also help out this old man in the ward. His name is Brother Laycock and he is 83. We help him go shopping and move stuff in his apartment. He is so funny. I love him so much. He always invites us over for lunch. He lives on 15TH ave and that is right next to the red mile. The red mile, if you dont know, is on 17th ave. It is the road to get to the stadium for the calgary flames (hockey) and during the playoffs that street has red lights for the flames, so everyone calls it the red mile. The road also has a lot of the shops and bars on it, so it is always busy with people. Last night, they played, and it was crazy. We were at brother laycocks picking up our phone (because we left it when we were at lunch). We were driving and there was so many people out watching the game at bars and heading to the game it was crazy. well family it sounds like your have fun and staying busy. I know I am. I love you all and wish you all a great week. Love your favorite missionary, Brayden.

Changing the Time for Kristen's Shower

When Pam got the invitation today for Aunt Rosie's 80th birthday party it became obvious that people couldn't attend Rosie's party from 2:00-4:00 in Perry and make it to a shower that started at 5:00 in Salt Lake. Since we'd already asked people to save the date, we decided to move the shower back an hour (from 6:00-8:00.) I hope that's not a problem for anyone.

I hope everyone will make a real effort to make it to Aunt Rosie's party. I have been so impressed with how she manages to come so far for all our family weddings and other events. I think it would mean a lot to her to have us all be there. (And you know it would make Mother very happy too.)

Yes, real shower invitations are coming. (They would have been "in the mail" without this complication today.)

Jessie's Baptism and Fun Weekend!!!

Hello Denny Clan! Here's a short report of a few exciting happenings from the Kynastons. We just had such a fun weekend. Not only did we have fun with Grandma and Grandpa Draper, Aunt Heath and Bridger, but Aunt Cole and sweet little Laynee Lou were able to come down too! The John Deere store was Bridger's highlight!! He was very excited about all of the equipment! All of the rest of us just enjoyed hanging out and being together. Jessie's baptism was very special. She was kind of nervous/shy about the whole thing but it went smooth and it was a special day. It was fun to have a program filled with the names of family members. We love you all.
